A charity Christmas hamper win has come as a great surprise to woman who had “never won a raffle”.

Jane Robson, who entered the draw at this year’s Macmillan Christmas Shopping Fair near Dorchester, was shocked to discover she had won.

She said: “I couldn’t believe I had won as I have never won a raffle in my life.

“Macmillan is very close to my heart as I know from first-hand experience the wonderful support that the Macmillan nurses provide.

“I certainly could not have got through such a dark time without them and I cannot thank them enough for everything they do to help all those living with cancer.”

The hamper was donated by Adrian Lickiss of Anglotown Property Management.

Mr Lickiss, along with Macmillan fundraising manager for Dorset, Chrissie Wathen-Neal, presented Ms Robson with her prize.

Ms Wathen-Neal said: “We are delighted to be able to present the hamper to Jane and very much hope that she enjoys it.”

She added: “The Macmillan Christmas Fair is now an established event in the county diary and is so well supported by the local community.

“As a charity we couldn’t do what we do without our wonderful volunteers and my thanks go to the committee members who organise the fair.

“Fifteen people a day will receive a cancer diagnosis in Dorset and the money that is raised at the event will help make a difference to those people living with cancer in Dorset.”

The fair, held in November at Kingston Maurward College, was hugely successful, raising more than £45,000 and bringing the total amount raised by the event over the years to more than £300,000.

Dates for the 2019 Macmillan Christmas Shopping Fair have just been released and it will be held on Saturday and Sunday, November 16 and 17 November, again at Kingston Maurward College.
