EIGHT-year-old William Brook has raised more than £800 for his school through a 10-mile bike ride.

The Thorner’s Primary School pupil from Abbotsbury cycled from Hardy’s Monument to Burton Bradstock, which he managed to complete in just 80 minutes.

On November 25, he cycled solo but followed by family and friends in the car.

William took on the challenge to raise money for his school to improve the outside provisions for the reception class and preschool area due to the rising number of pupils.

He also loves to cycle and was determined to beat his former personal best of 7.7 miles.

William’s mum, Emma Sibley, said: “He did a fantastic job, it was absolutely freezing up Hardy’s Monument that morning, but he was so determined that nothing was going to stop him.

“He rode almost continually the whole 10 miles, only stopping a couple of times for a brief drink, hence him doing the ride in 80 minutes.

“He is an absolute champion! He did say to me that it makes him happy helping others, especially if he can help by doing what he loves the most!

“I am so proud of him and I know Thorner’s Primary School is very proud too!”
