WE REALLY must learn to accept the result of the Brexit referendum.

As Barry Bates (Bridport News, November 29) pointed out, the handling of the negotiations has been chaotic but it is not all the fault of the UK team; the EU has been stoically trying to retain the maximum while giving the minimum and has used the media to promote its own views while pointing out that Armageddon is round the corner when the UK leaves.

The negotiating commission is telling the other countries what will be acceptable – to Brussels, Tusk, Barnier and Juncker – in a pretence of knowing what’s best and why they deserve the perks given to those at the pinnacle of power in Brussels.

During the run up to the referendum, wild claims were made by both sides, Climate Fear and Climate Optimism.

At the time of the referendum, Cameron claimed the country had made no preparations for the possibility of a ‘no’ vote.

Both sides ‘hoped’ their ‘exaggerations’ would be borne out in the end.

There is no proof Russian money was used to promote the Leave campaign.

Remain made a complaint, that complaint is being investigated but, to date, there is no evidence to back this up.
