MRS Ethelston’s Primary School has been named as one of the top primary schools in the country.
The Uplyme school was featured in the Sunday Times Best UK Schools Guide earlier this month and was ranked 218 from more than 12,000 schools. This puts the school at 19th in the top 100 independent primary schools in the country, and one of only two in the south west in the list.
Michaela Kite, head teacher at Mrs Ethelston’s Primary School, said: “This is a fantastic achievement and I am supremely proud of both pupils and staff for achieving this well-deserved result.
“It is a real recognition of the hard work that both pupils and staff put in across the school.”
Andrea Rice, the executive head of Acorn Multi Academy Trust, which Mr’s Ethelston’s is a part of, said: “This really shows that it is possible to rise to the government’s challenge of being the best in the world for teaching and recognition of the professionalism of the team at Mrs Ethelston’s.
“It clearly demonstrates their commitment to delivering the best possible outcomes for the children.
“This is further evidence that by working collaboratively as a group of rural schools, where government funding can be lower, we can achieve exceptional results.”
