A 45-year-old man has been arrested after assaulting a police officer.
Officers were called to reports of a break-in in Bridport this morning (Thursday) at an address in South Street.
On arrival, officers saw a suspected wanted man and, after a foot chase, we was detained by officers on West Bay Road.
He was arrested on suspicion of breaching a court order and a further charge of assulting a police officer.
He is now in custody assisting with enquiries.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "We would like to thank members of the public for their assistance having made officers aware of their sightings of this male, and to the motorists caught in traffic queues in West Bay Road for their patience whilst the male was being medically assessed prior to being conveyed to custody."
