I am writing to express thanks to the local ambulance service, the NHS 111 service and also the staff at both Dorset County Hospital and Poole Hospital.

We recently booked a long weekend in Lyme Regis for my family, and on the first night of the holiday my mother collapsed at the apartment.

The NHS 111 operator who was very calm and clear, decided to send an ambulance to assess her. The three ambulance paramedics were superb, thoroughly checking her health and deciding that she would need treatment in Dorchester.

They had to carry her down several flights of stairs to get her to the ambulance, which did not look like an easy task.

Once in A&E the staff in Dorchester were excellent, keeping us informed all the time. The next day it was decided she needed to be moved to Poole for tests, which were carried out on the Sunday morning as promised.

Again, the staff in Poole were great and once the results were available it was decided she could be discharged and we were able to take her back to the accommodation for the final night.

Not the weekend we were hoping for, but I think it’s worth giving praise where it’s due as the NHS comes in for some bad press. Our experience of it was excellent.
