BUSINESSES, schools and community groups across west Dorset donned yellow ears, spots and even wore pyjamas to school and work to raise money for Children in Need.

Fundraisers baked cakes, bought Pudsey ears and donated to the cause, which has so far raised more than £50,000,000 this year and more than £1billion since it started in 1980.

Children and staff at Marshwood Primary Academy enjoyed wearing spotty clothing for the day, with head teacher Luke Owen joining in the fun and donning a ladybird outfit.

They hosted a cake sale and bought special Pudsey headbands and wristbands.

Pupils at Salway Ash Primary School also paid £1 to come to school dressed in stars, spots and stripes, as well as playing fundraising games and having a cake sale.

Students at Woodroffe School also did their bit by raising more than £1,400 through a cake sale and donations.

The BBC Children in Need provides grants to projects in the UK which focus on children and young people who are disadvantaged.

The charity is currently supporting 2,400 projects across the UK, which help children facing a range of disadvantages, for example, poverty and deprivation, children who have been victims of abuse or neglect or disabled young people.
