Coastguards were called after a reported cliff fall.

West Bay Coastguard Rescue Team was alerted on Monday morning by Solent Coastguard NMOC (National Maritime Operations Centre) to reports of a sizeable cliff fall to the West of Seatown near Golden Cap.

A spokesman for West Bay Coastguard said: “Once on scene, no evidence of any recent falls could be established so the officers split up and checked the cliff conditions at Eype and Charmouth just in case the first informant was mistaken with the location.

“Whilst at Charmouth, officers liaised with the Lyme Regis Coastguard Station Officer and also the Jurassic Coast Heritage team to check on any further reports of cliff falls in the area.

“With no evidence of any significant falls or any persons being reported at risk, the team stood down to return to its station.”

He added: “Stay Safe on the Coast, but if you find yourself in difficulty, or if you are concerned for others, do not hesitate...Dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.”
