YEAR six pupil Millie was the proud winner of a trench cake competition at Mrs Ethelston’s Primary School.
The children were tasked with making a fruit cake that families would send to loved ones on the front line, and
Due to rationing, some ingredients were hard to come by so the recipe didn’t include eggs and vinegar was used to react with the baking soda to help the cake rise.
The competition was organised by the Royal British Legion (RBL) and judged by Lyme Regis mayor, Cllr Michaela Ellis, and Ian Marshall on the Lyme Regis branch of the RBL.
Millie was presented with a £10 book voucher for Serendip for her winning cake.
