A PAIR of shoes abandoned on a Purbeck beach, prompted a search of the coastline.
A member of the public found a pair of shoes abandoned on Swanage Beach on Wednesday evening.
The person came concerned called the Coastguard via 999 when the owner of the shoes was not apparent.
The Swanage inshore lifeboat, which was taking part in its routine training, was called to investigate and quickly located the wet shoes.
The team carried out a search of the immediate area and shoreline.
Nothing was found and a spokesman for Swanage RNLI said as no one in the area had seen anything "untoward" and as there were no reports of a missing person the Coastguard was happy to release the lifeboat to return to their exercise .
