A woman described as being in distress at the edge of Weymouth harbour triggered a rescue operation, the coastguard has said.
At around 8.40pm yesterday evening the full Wyke Coastguard Rescue Team was called to the scene.
The woman was at the harbourside opposite the lifeboat station.
A spokesperson for the coastguard said the team prepared for the event of a water rescue, however officers from Dorset Police were able to lead the woman to safety.
A spokesperson from Dorset Police said: "We were called at 8.29pm on Tuesday 13 November 2018 by the coastguard to a concern for welfare of a woman in Weymouth Harbour off Pilgrims Way.
"Officers attended and spoke to the woman and she was taken to a place of safety by the ambulance service at 9.55pm."
