THANK YOU: Friendships forget at Bridport were highlighted by the commanding officer of the town's namesake ship when the vessel was commissioned at Portland Naval Base.

Lieutenant Commander Sean O'Reilly commented: "We are most grateful to the people of Bridport for the interest they have shown in the ship.

"We have struck up a number of friendships and I am sure they will strengthen over the years."

BANG: Well over 1,000 people enjoyed one of the best displays Bridport has seen.

The Round Table let off more than £1,500 worth of fireworks during the 40-minute extravaganza on Saturday night.

The annual attraction is run as a community service, rather than as a fundraiser, but any proceeds go to help the club's Christmas party for old people.

HISTORIC: A slice of Bridport history will be unveiled at the town's new Safeway supermarket when the store opens on November, 23.

Bridport Museum have lent Safeway a medieval carved stone overmantel, which has been incorporated into an open-air feature near the shop's entrance.

It is mounted on a wall with a copy of an 1845 tithe map of Bothenhampton and some information about the history of Bridport.
