A celebrated chef has joined forces with an arts development company to raise money for a sculpture trail.

Restaurateur, chef and food writer Mark Hix has joined up with the Arts Developing Company to host a one-off event to fundraise for the Lyme Regis Sculpture trail.

A four-course meal, art conversation and auction will be held at the Hix Oyster and Fish House in Lyme Regis.

The trail, which was opened in 2015, is based in the Langmoor and Lister Gardens, and has far-reaching views to the Cobb and coastline beyond.

The gardens also provide an outdoor gallery for contemporary sculptures by local artists.

Artist Carrie Mason, who is currently exhibiting her sculpture 'Breaking Through' in the gardens, said: "I was delighted to be selected to be part of the Lyme Regis Sculpture Trail 2018

"It is a fantastic opportunity to bring art out of a gallery and make it accessible to the public. "My work is about finding time for quiet contemplation and the location of the sculpture trail provides a perfect setting."

The event will take place on Monday, November 12, where Mark will be welcoming guests to his restaurant, with the meal to be accompanied with wines from the local vineyard.

Artist Clare Trenchard, whose artwork 'Trapeze' is currently part of the trail, will be giving a talk with director of Slader's Yard Gallery in West Bay, Anna Powell.

An auction will take place after the meal, with a range of fantastic lots on offer, including weekends away, VIP cultural events, and creative workshops, which have been kindly donated by local businesses and organisations.

All proceeds from the auction will go directly to developing the Lyme Regis Sculpture Trail, together with a percentage from tickets and sales of a limited number of beautiful maquettes by the artists whose work is currently in the gardens.

Dinning will take place from 7pm with each ticket £75.
