For most father and daughter relationships, going for a cycle should be a leisurely affair.

But for one father and daughter from Beaminster, they are taking it to the next level.

Vicki Stanners and her father Steve are planning to cycle from one end of the country to the other to raise money for Help the Heroes.

The pair will be cycling from John O'Groats to Lands End which should take them eleven days.

Vicki said: "I have always liked a challenge. Three years ago, I did the London Marathon and I wanted to do something a little bigger to push myself a bit more so thought the next logical step was to cycle the length of the country, and I managed to talk dad into doing it with me."

Vicki, who now lives in Ilton, is hoping that her current role, working in a gym, can help her on the task.

Steven is previous owner of Steak Out and current owner of SVS Cleaning, and both will be doing the cycle for a charity close to their heart.

Vicki said: "I chose Help for Heroes as it is a charity close to my heart, with family and friends in the forces."

The distance from John O'Groats to Lands End is 957 miles, and will take a lot of training to prepare for.

Vicki said: "We have been out cycling on the road separately and together to get ourselves ready for this event. I also took part in a charity three hour spin with my work."

To fundraise for their task, the pair has organised a charity comedy evening, which will take place at Beaminster Town Hall.

'Help the Heroes Comedy Night' will take place on Saturday, September 22, and will include performances from Wayne the Weird, Aaron Levene, Alf, and Matt Price.

Vicki said: "Our main event is the charity comedy evening, we have four comedians, one of which was on Britain's Got Talent last year."

The pair are also hoping to organise a coffee morning and cake sale to raise more money, but are unsure on when this will be.

Vicki and Steven will be starting their challenge on Monday, October 1 and will finish on Thursday, October 11.
