On August 18, we took our annual holiday in the lovely Lyme Regis.

On the 21st we went to the beach, where my husband lost my granddad’s ring whilst playing in the sand.

We searched everywhere and I was very upset as it’s the only thing I have left of him.

On the last day of our holiday, August 24, even though it was raining, I promised my youngest daughter we would go down to the beach in the early evening.

When we arrived we noticed a man metal-detecting on the other side of the beach.

My husband went and spoke to him and told him of the lost ring.

He said he hadn’t got it but his friend had found a gold ring.

He took my husband’s phone number and, shortly after were back at
our holiday home, another man rang my husband and said he had a ring like the one my husband had described we had lost.

The man said he should go to Axminster.

We don’t know the area well, so this lovely man offered to come to us.

My husband went out to meet him and, to our complete surprise, he returned he had my granddad’s ring.

I want to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to Mike Bridel and his friend Bob for their selflessness.

They have renewed my faith in human nature for no personal gain other than to help us.

You put yourselves out and we are truly grateful.
