Visitors from far and wide will descend on West Bay this weekend for one of the biggest events in its calendar.

West Bay Day, which returns on Sunday, will see the whole of the bay turned into a playground for young and old alike with live bands, a duck race, pirate games, a classic car and motorcycle display and, for the first time in West Bay, Bhangra dancers - all topped off with a firework finale.

This year, visitors will be able to grab a bite to eat and enjoy a refreshing drink at a café and outside bar.

The fun will kick off at midday and last until 11pm, with the event drawing to a close after the firework display, which will take place at 10pm.

Chairman of the West Bay Days organising committee, James Radcliffe, said “Raising money for local groups and causes is our main priority but also creating an event that everyone can have fun at. West Bay itself is a wonderfully diverse place that attracts thousands of visitors every year and this event is firmly fixed as a great day out for all the family and of course there’s no admission fee.

“Saying that, we do need volunteers on the day, so if you have a few hours to spare make yourself known via the Facebook page ‘West Bay Days’ and there are still a few spaces for stallholders too.”

This year, the charities that have been earmarked to receive the money made at the events are the 1st West Bay Sea Scouts group and St Catherine's Pre School.

West Bay Days was formed in 2012 and is made up of volunteers who organise and support events for the benefit of the local community and visitors to the area.
