Everything is set for the return of a massive charity event.

The annual Lyme Regis and Charmouth RNLI Guild Lifeboat Week will return to Lyme Regis from Saturday, July 28 until Friday, August 3.

It has been a popular event to the town of Lyme Regis for more than 40 years and raises around £25,000 to £30,000 each year for the RNLI.

Lots of events have been planned for the week, including a swimming challenge from Cobb Gate to the inside steps of North Wall on Saturday, a fun run, a bath tub race and a Songs of Praise style event on the Sunday, a tug-of-war on the Monday, a charity auction on the Wednesday, a firework display on the Friday and much more.

One of the events to look out for is a display by the British Army's official parachute display team, The Red Devils.

They will be swooping in between 2pm and 3pm on Thursday, August 2.

The week also gives the RNLI volunteers an opportunity to talk about safety in the water.

One event includes a lifejacket 'clinic', which is aimed at ensuring that the safety aid is in perfect condition to save lives.

The clinic has been organised by Mike McAlpine, volunteer community lifesaving officer with the RNLI in Lyme Regis, and will be based at a lifesaving gazebo on the slipway by the entrance to the RNLI boathouse on Tuesday, July 31.

RNLI experts will demonstrate to those present how to ensure a lifejacket is in a serviceable condition to save a life.

Other events include charity cake sales, musical events, talks, art exhibitions and much more.

A beer has also been specially created, and will be on sale at Celler 59 in Broad Street.

The pub has announced that £1 from the sale of Rescue, a natural unfined beer will go to Lyme Regis Lifeboat.

Star prize for the week is a weekend stay in a holiday cottage in Lyme Regis.

Tickets are £5 to enter, and available at the lifeboat week kiosk on the Marine Parade or at the wine or water stall outside the RNLI shop on the Cobb.

The draw will take place on Friday, August 3.

Full programme of events for the week is available from the RNLI Lifeboat shop.
