CUTS: Youth centres at Bridport and Beaminster will be out of action next week as part of cost-cutting measures to the country's youth service.

The shutdown at the two centres and voluntary redundancies across the county will help save £160,000 and allow Dorset Youth Service to stay within their budget for the coming year.

A full-time youth worker at Lyme Regis and one at Yetminster will go, their roles will be covered by part-time staff.

JADED: Rock star Mick Jagger's daughter has become jaded with country life and is quitting her West Dorset hideaway home to head back to the City.

Jade Jagger (22) and her artist boyfriend Piers Jackson (23) have been renting a farmhouse on the Forde Abbey estate at Thorncombe.

MISERY: Damp walls in a block of Bridport flats are making council tenants' lives a misery.

And the residents of Armstrong Road are calling for action in a bid to combat black mould invading their homes.

PRICE RISE: Unless members of Dorset County Council decree otherwise at their budget meeting on February 23, Dorset ratepayers will have to dip into their pockets to find an extra 1s. in every £ for the county's coffers in the year which lies ahead.

SUCCESS: Woodroffe House have done it again. In the Woodroffe School's annual cross-country on Friday, the House retained the championship, winning three out of the four age groups. In second place, 15 points behind, came School House. Coram House, a further 22 points down, were third, heading Shaftesbury House by a mammoth 267 points. Because of the foot-and-mouth epidemic, the courses were altered this year to give the competitors a great deal more road work.

AMNESTY: A call has gone out from Constabulary HQ, Dorchester, urging all people with unauthorised firearms to take advantage of the three-month amnesty to deliver them up without fear of legal action.
