A community has been left shocked after an attack of vandalism.

Netherbury FC, also home to Waytown Hounds FC and Bridport Youth FC, suffered extensive damage to its changing rooms.

A JustGiving page was set up on Friday and its initial target of £500 was smashed within just 24 hours.

James Sayers, who set up the page, said: “We are trying to raise funds to re-build our lovely little changing rooms at Netherbury FC, that were mindlessly vandalised and set on fire this week.”

“We supply facilities to allow five different football teams over the last year [play], including two Amateur men’s teams, two youth teams and a ladies team. Due to league rules, we have to have a safe building to stage football matches and due to this attack we cannot do this.”

“We would appreciate any small donations you could manage to help us. We need to purchase wood, paint, plasterboard, electrics, water piping, showers and so much more.”

Donors left messages of support on the JustGiving page. One wrote: “Sorry to read this, what mindless individuals spoiling it for loads of others.”

Another said: “Good luck with repairing building new changing rooms mindless act of vandalism to a small club.”
