RETAINING the maternity and paediatric services at the Dorset County Hospital, at least for the present time, is a wonderful Christmas present especially for the parents of those children who come to rely on the loving care and expertise of the staff of the Kingfisher Ward.
As a Governor for West Dorset, I have been pressing the case for a status quo, for moving the services away would, undoubtedly, have caused great hardship to the families concerned.
With a consultant-led team of professionals, I would like to hope that this long awaited news will allay the fears of the mums with sick children knowing they are being nursed and cared for in the hands of the staff at Dorset County Hospital.
