ICE cream producers have created a new sorbet dedicated to a Dorset resort.

West Dorset-based Baboo Gealto have marked the opening of its second kiosk in the county, on Lyme Regis beach, by developing the 'Lyme Sorbet'.

The creation is now available from the new kiosk on Marine Parade, opposite the Cobb.

With flavour being at the heart of Baboo’s success, Annie Hanbury, who set up the company with her husband Sam, has found a local source for Brazilian limes in order to create the flavour.

She said: "We are so excited to launch our new and exclusive Lyme Sorbet at our kiosk along the seafront for everyone to enjoy.

"It has a clean and refreshing taste, and will help keep people cool during what we hope will be a great summer. We also have take-home containers that can be filled in the kiosk with the flavours of your choice. So why not take some of the lime sorbet home - it should be the base of many a delicious summer cocktail.”

At the launch event for the new kiosk at the end of May, a barman will be there to show people how it’s done, by creating a frozen ‘Lyme Vodka Crush’ cocktail. It will include one scoop of the 'Lyme Sorbet', 50ml of vodka and four mint leaves - perfect for the summer months.

The second kiosk opened a month ago, following the original kiosk at West Bay, and has surprised Annie and Sam with how quickly it has gained a reputation in Lyme. The couple are now busy expanding their local team in preparation for the summer season.

The Lyme Regis kiosk opening marks an exciting time for Baboo Gelato and completes what has been a whirlwind of a year. The company won the coveted champion ice cream and sorbet award from Taste of the West as well as attracting a loyal following from local?chefs and restaurants including River Cottage’s Canteen in Axminster, and The Millside?in Lyme Regis.

Annie added: “We really hope the people of Lyme Regis will come and try the sorbet out for themselves and enjoy eating it as much as we have making it.”
