RESIDENTS are being warning about the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning following an incident yesterday morning.
One pump from Maiden Newton attended a carbon monoxide alarm sounding at a property on Acreman Street, Cerne Abbas.
Crews were called at 9.46pm on Sunday.
A spokesman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Thankfully this was a false alarm, but could have been more serious. The alarm was caused by the occupier cleaning out the fire into the ash pan and leaving the hot ashes near the fire because it had been raining outside.
"The attending crew have requested that members of the public are reminded to not empty ashes from the fire and leave them in the house continuing to burn. Always dispose of ashes safely outside to prevent the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning."
