THE new mayor of Bridport is urging residents to support the town’s market.
Bridport Town Council is getting behind the Love Your Local Market campaign – which aims to provide a national spotlight on markets and their importance to high streets across the UK.
Bridport mayor Cllr Ros Kayes, said: “Bridport Town Council, which manages the street market, is supporting the campaign, as it has done for the last few years.
“The market is such an important part of the town and, with the many local and distinctive shops, it does so much to attract people to the area. The market has won national recognition with mentions in various national newspaper lists of places to visit.
“It is important though that we continue to support the market and the town council working with our partners in the Tourism Association and the chamber have recently produced a lot of new promotional publicity including the new Bridport bags.
“The town council is very happy indeed to support the Love Your Local Market campaign.”
