A 34-YEAR-old man from Dorset has become the fifth person charged with conspiracy to murder after an alleged shooting in Bury St Edmunds.

Police were called at 6.45pm on Tuesday 4 August to reports that a man had been shot in the stomach at an address in Forum Court in Bury St Edmunds.

The victim, aged in his 30s, was successfully treated in hospital for his injuries.

Paul Baker, 34, of Neils View, Maiden Newton, was charged with conspiracy to murder after being rearrested in Weymouth yesterday afternoon.

He has been remanded in custody to appear before South East Suffolk Magistrates’ Court later this morning.

Four other men, two from near Dorchester, have already been charged with conspiracy to murder in connection with the alleged shooting.

Frank Warren, aged 51, of Victoria Road, Dorchester, Andrew Seaton, aged 39, of Frome View, Maiden Newton, Dorchester and Simon Webber, aged 31, of Sydenham Close, Bridgwater, Somerset have also all been charged.

Colin Deferia, 59, of Battisford Road, Barking, was also charged with the same offence and made his first appearance before Ipswich Crown Court yesterday.

All four men have been remanded in custody and are due to appear in court again at the end of October.

Two women, aged 59 and 29 and from the Needham Market area, who were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder in connection with this incident, remain on police bail until Thursday 1 October.
