A 25-YEAR-OLD man told his then fiancée he was going to watch football with a friend when he went to have sexual intercourse with a teenage girl almost half his age, a court was told.

Samuel Benedict Perry was handed an 18-month jail term at Dorchester Crown Court after admitting three charges of engaging in sexual activity with a child in relation to an offence in west Dorset.

Dorchester Crown Court was told how Perry had met the 13-year-old victim at a party in December last year and they had exchanged telephone numbers.

Prosecutor Stuart Ellacott told the court that on December 17 last year the girl had 'let slip' that she was 'home alone' and Perry offered to come round and 'hang out with her'.

He said after a while watching television the defendant began kissing the girl and went on to perform sexual acts on her.

The victim said in an interview with police: "I didn't say anything. I just froze, I didn't try or stop him or nothing.

"I was really scared."

Mr Ellacott said that Perry had full sexual intercourse with the victim and when he went to leave he told her: "We should do this again sometime."

In a victim impact statement the victim said that after Perry left she had a panic attack and was hyperventilating and crying.

Timothy Shorter, mitigating, said that his Perry, of Stringfellow Crescent, Chard, was a man of previous good character and was well thought of by those who knew him but was considered immature and naive for his age.

He said: "This is a tragic case both for the young lady and for the young man.

"It's fair to say that from one view two lives have been ruined."

Mr Shorter said his client had made admissions at the earliest possible opportunity and had shown genuine remorse for his actions.

He said: "This young man, in circumstances which he created, behaved most stupidly and he will be punished for it."

Judge Jonathan Fuller told the described Perry's actions towards the girl as a 'seduction' and said it was clear from the reaction of his victim afterwards that the incident had a significant impact on her.

He told the defendant: "However open the opportunity that you were given you were fully aware that what you were planning on doing was wrong and unlawfully wrong."

The judge added: "Children of this age need to be protected."

As well as sentencing Perry to 18 months in prison, Judge Fuller also ordered that he go on the sex offenders' register for ten years and made him subject to a sexual harm prevention order for five years.
