LYME Regis residents can park for free in the evenings on the seafront this summer.
Parking charges normally apply at Monmouth Beach and Cabanya car parks, west of the Cobb, from 8am to 9pm during July and August.
For the rest of the year, parking is free from 6pm to 9pm to encourage more trade on the seafront in quieter times. Now Lyme Regis Town Council has decided to offer residents free evening parking all-year-round.
During July and August only, residents can park for free if they display either a winter parking permit or a shoppers’ permit.
Residents who do not have either of these permits can get a temporary permit from the council office. to be issued with a temporary permit. From November, free winter parking, summer evening parking and shoppers’ parking will be combined into a single permit.
To obtain any of the residents-only permits, a valid council tax bill for a Lyme Regis property and a vehicle registration document displaying the same address must be produced.
