A CAR was destroyed by fire near Beaminster.

Firefighters were called to Crook Hill, Netherbury at around 4.35am on Wednesday (15) to reports a car was on fire.

Officers found a vehicle was alight and used two hose reel jets and two sets of breathing apparatus to extinguish the blaze.

A Dorset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman, said: “The cause of the fire is unknown at this time but unfortunately the vehicle was completely destroyed.

“Fire crews handed the incident over to police, before leaving the scene at around 5.40am, having ensured the area was safe.”

Dorset Police are making enquiries into the incident, but have not determined the cause.

A Dorset Police spokesperson, said: “We were called to the scene by the fire service at 4.44am to Crook Hill.

“Recovery was called as the vehicle, thought to be an estate car, was in the middle of the road.

“The vehicle was completely burnt out and recovery was completed by 6am.”
