ON Wednesday, April 18, there will be a launch night for Bridport Eco-Youth group at Bridport Youth Centre.

Eco-Youth is a group of young people from the Bridport area hoping to make changes essentially to the youth club but also the local area by improving its general environmental awareness.

This will involve simple things like selling healthier food during club times, but hopefully later on more complicated things such as installing a wind turbine on the roof to generate electricity for the building.

The launch party is a celebration of all of what is going to happen in the future. There will be delicious (and some healthy!) food such as home made flapjacks, 'Cycle Smoothies' and Fair-trade chocolate!

There will also be a presentation on the groups' recent trip to CAT, the Centre for Alternative Technology in Wales, where we discovered different ways of generating power without damaging the environment.

This will include photos and the chance to ask some questions! There will also be a display of what we want for the club in the future and how we plan to do these things.

There will also be the opportunity to share your ideas and thoughts with us. We will be really happy to answer any questions, but we think that it is very important to hear the voices of the people who this group will benefit most of all- and that is all of you who use the Youth Club.

Lana Dias, an Eco-Youth member said: "The launch is important because it is a chance for all young people to express their ideas and aspirations of what they want for the Youth Club."

We encourage everyone to come along, and hope to see you all there!
