The Uplyme September meeting was successfully held recently with Ann Widdecombe addressing a packed hall of over 130 people.

Sue Kennedy, President, welcomed everyone present and members were reminded about the Autumn Council Meeting to be held at Barnstaple in October and an advance notice of the Carol Service to be held as usual at Exeter Cathedral in early December.

Two senior members were presented with birthday posies, Noreen Adams 98, and Vera Kitchen, 101. Members were given a flower arranging demonstration and also participated in a question and answer session to help in arranging garden and bought flowers.

A raffle draw was made for members to win a flower arrangement to take home.

The competition for a flower arrangement and was won by Joan Cool.

Uplyme WI are now looking ahead to the October meeting when a visiting speaker will talk about ‘Growing Old Disgracefully.

Members attending are requested to write a poem on the subject of old age.

As usual meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month starting at 2.30 at Uplyme Village Hall.
