THE Blackdown WI Flower and Produce Show was well supported with exhibitors coming from a wide area to take part.
The floral art section especially had a lot of entries and as always the judges commented on the high standard of exhibits.
The winners were:
- Dolly Studley Overall Cup, Ian Hallett
- Sparks Cup for Vegetables, Ian Hallett
- Foxbury Floral Cup, Valerie Lawrence
- Floral Art Cup, Hilary Minson
- Malam Home Produce Cup, Julia Borland
- Snell Photography Cup, Anne Cooke
- Kimbrey Handicraft Cup, joint winners Joan Symonds and Jane Rudkin
- Saunders Children’s Cup 12-16, Kerry Ann May
- Saunders Children’s Cup 11 and under, Sophie Raymond.
- A new class for a basket/trug of five vegetables 1st, Pete Rowley, 2nd, Sylvia Creed-Castle, and 3rd Ian Hallett.
This year for the first time the show had a People’s Choice and the Floral Arrangement (Ruby Wedding) by Hilary Minson got the most votes.
The committee thanked everyone who had made the show such a success. The retiring secretary Charlyne Barrett was presented with a garden voucher. Her successor will be Sue Hibbard.
