THE meeting on December 20 featured displays of ‘interesting acquisitions’.
Bernard Paul showed stamp mixtures, meter marks of Bridport Industries, Bridport Scout Post and other local items. Brian Hunt produced the latest catalogue of Australian Kangaroo stamps and items from the Falkland Islands.
Chairman Reg Brown gave and in-depth view of Bermuda and its history, it is twinned with Lyme Regis.
Frank Blackah displayed 15 sheets of postcards giving the history of the Victoria Cross, Margot explained the history of ‘the lady at Beaminster Tunnel’ with items from newspapers and also a detailed story of the Crewkerne War Memorial.
During the evening traditional Christmas fare was provided including some spectacular biscuits provided by Margot.
The annual stamp competition will be held on February 7 at Bridport.
