International vocal harmony group Windborne will perform two Song on the Times concerts in Dorset.

They will perform at Dorchester Corn Exchange on Wednesday, February 12 in a Dorchester Arts concert and at Milborne St Andrew Village Hall on Friday, February 14 in an Artsreach concert.

Hailing from New England, USA, Windborne specialise in close harmony singing, shifting effortlessly between dramatically different styles of traditional music. Their musical knowledge spans many continents and cultures, but they remain deeply rooted in American folk singing traditions.

The stunningly powerful vocal harmony group present Song on the Times, a project that collects music from working class movements for peoples’ rights in the US and UK over the past 400 years, and sings them for the struggles of today.

All graduates of Artsreach favourites Northern Harmony, Lynn Mahoney Rowan, Will Thomas Rowan, Lauren Breunig, and Jeremy Carter-Gordon have collected and studied polyphonic vocal music for more than 15 years. Learning from traditional singing masters from cultures around the world, the singers are as comfortable with an improvised Corsican couplet song as an English ballad. Windborne share a vibrant energy onstage, their connection to each other and to the music clearly evident. Entertaining with stories about the songs, they also explain the characteristics and stylistic elements of the traditions in which they sing.
