A Bridport theatre club will present a delightful and devilish interpretation of a classic comedy of manners.

Encore Theatre Club will stage a production of Richard Sheridan's School for Scandal from Wednesday, January 8 to Saturday, January 11.

Eighteenth century characters are given a 21st century makeover in this comic tale following wealthy millennial heirs and rich businessmen on the fashionable scene of Chelsea. The modern production will see money, power, and social media rule the world, as Sheridan's 1777 play of gossip and intrigue is brought into society of today.

Founded in 1996, Encore Theatre Club is a Bridport-based company working in all aspects of theatre and stage production. The group aims to encourage young people to take an interest in performing arts, offering a bursary to members who go on to study the discipline at a higher level.
