'Tis the season for panto, partying and even a spot of running! Here's our Guide to the weekend.

FRIDAY

*DANCE the night away at the Wessex FM Christmas parties, which return tonight with Madonna: The Tribute and Kylie-Alike celebrating the music of the eighties and nineties. Tomorrow, Super Troupers will take to the stage, a four-piece act performing the sounds of the seventies and covering plenty of ABBA's smash hits. Held at the Weymouth Pavilion, the fun-filled evenings will feature party music, DJs, Wessex FM presenters and a chance to win an array of prizes courtesy of Goldcrest Jewellers. The action kicks off at 8pm each night with all tickets £16, available from the pavilion website or box office.

SATURDAY

*OH no it doesn't... oh yes it does! Tomorrow marks the start of the Weymouth Pavilion pantomime, which this year tells the story of Cinderella. Returning favourites Lee Redwood and Gwynfryn West will play the Fairy Godmother and Buttons, alongside newcomers Luke Attwood and Brandon Nicholson as the ugly sisters. There will be two performances at 2pm and 6pm tomorrow and Sunday, with tickets £17 for adults, £15 for concessions and £60 for a family of four, available from the pavilion website or box office.

*CELEBRATE the season with two Christmas concerts taking place in Dorchester tomorrow evening. The Cantamus choir, a small group of singers who specialise in often unfamiliar sacred, secular and consort music, will perform at the Holy Trinity Church from 7pm. Tickets are £10 on the door and include refreshments. At 7.30pm, head to Dorchester Baptist Church for a Christmas concert featuring performances by the Dorset Police Male Voice Choir, the DASP School Choir Skylarks, and Darron Garnett, dubbed 'the voice of swing'. Tickets are £8 on the door.

*PREPARE to be scared as Portland's Royal Manor Theatre (RMT) begins its horror season, kicking off the screenings with the 2015 American film Southbound. Tales of highway terror revolve around malevolent spirits at a truck stop, a mysterious traveller, a car accident and a home invasion in this nail-biting thriller, suitable for over-18s only. Tickets are £5 and the film will be screened tomorrow at 7pm.

*HEAD to St John's Church in Weymouth tomorrow for a very special evening, as Weymouth Choral Society is joined by Dame Joan Bakewell for its annual Christmas concert. The singers' musical offerings will be complemented by suitable poems and literary extracts, with music provided by Weymouth Concert Brass and pianist Louise Dukes. The family-friendly programme will include traditional carols and festive favourites. The concert starts at 7.30pm, with tickets £12 for adults and free for children.

SUNDAY

*IF skating is more your thing, the Roller Disco returns to Weymouth Pavilion on Sunday afternoon. Sessions run from 1pm to 3pm and 4pm to 6pm, with tickets available on the door. Entry is £6 for a skater and £2 for a spectator, plus £1 skate hire.

*EMBRACE the Christmas spirit with the most festive show of all: The Christmassy Christmas Show of Christmassy Christmasness. The much-loved Squashbox Theatre return to Dorchester Corn Exchange with a spectacular celebration of all things festive, from fire trees and fairy lights to sleigh bells and snowflakes. Meet a snowman who lives in a fridge, learn about Yuletide traditions and hear the story of the very first Christmas Tree in this exciting show packed with puppets, songs, quizzes and comedy. There will be two performances on Sunday at 2pm and 4pm, with tickets £8 for adults, £6 for concessions and £24 for a family, available from the Dorchester Arts box office or website, or in person at the Corn Exchange.
