A CONCERT with a Weymouth choir provided some toe-tapping entertainment.

One Voice Choir's concert Breath of Heaven was held at Weymouth Bay Methodist Church and kicked off the festive season for the choir.

Master of Ceremonies Brigadier (Retired) Jeff Little provided valuable insights into each piece and in the second half narrated the festive musical Let the Whole World Sing by Joel Raney.

Under the musical direction of Grazina Ellis, the choir performed several songs including the lovely Bell Carol by Heather Sorensen, featuring a piano duet by Michael Lobo and Alison Whiting. Shepherds Joy is new to the choir and told the shepherds’ story to an uplifting tune with a Celtic lilt, accompanied by the violin and bodhran drum.

One of the most beautiful additions to the programme was the title song, Breath of Heaven which tells the nativity story from Mary’s perspective. The first half ended with a new and upbeat version of O Holy Night and a toe tapping spiritual piece Tell us ‘bout a baby.

The second half of the concert provided a mixture of traditional carols set in a fresh format of a Christmas Musical. The audience were tapping their toes to some of the tunes whilst listening intently to others.

The choir will be performing at the Mayor’s Civic Carol Concert on Saturday, December 14 at St Mary’s Church in Weymouth. They will also perform at St Osmund's Church, Osmington, at 3pm on Sunday, December 15.
