THE Marine Theatre in Lyme Regis has the perfect festive treats sure to get you into the Christmas spirit.

Pick up a mug of mulled wine and enjoy: Jazz in the Bar with Charlie Bicknell (with an added dash of Yuletide sparkle); a screening of Shakespeare’s tragi-comedy, The Winter’s Tale; a double-bill of The Snowman and Father Christmas, and a Polar Express pyjama party. The star on the top of the tree is a free screening of White Christmas.

This festive flurry kicks off with Charlie Bicknell’s Christmas Jazz in the Bar on Sunday, December 8. A vocal sensation, Charlie will be performing a special Christmas programme at the Marine’s long-running jazz event.

Charlie will be regaling the audience of Lyme Regis with Christmas classics like Santa Baby, The Little Boy Who Santa Forgot, and Nat King Cole’s Christmas Song.

Next on the Marine’s Christmas extravaganza is a streaming of The Winter’s Tale on Thursday, December 12. Filmed live at London’s Garrick Theatre in 2015, this re-imagining of Shakespeare’s classic tale of love and obsession stars Judi Dench and Kenneth Branagh.

Audience members - both young and old(er) - are invited to don their cosiest pyjamas for the Marine’s special event, The Polar Express Pyjama Party (Saturday, December 14). You may even catch a glimpse of Father Christmas and the Station Master themselves at the theatre.

This year’s annual free Yuletide feature film is the epitome of a Christmas classic, White Christmas. On Saturday December 21 the Marine Theatre will be putting on the Bing Cosby musical in which a successful song-and-dance team become romantically involved with a sister act and team up to save the failing Vermont Inn of their former commanding general.

Finally, before the seasonal hibernation commences, the Marine is closing its festive goings ons with a double-bill of The Snowman and Father Christmas. These Raymond Briggs’ classics will be played back to back with an interval on Sunday, December 22.
