THE timeless tunes of The Carpenters will be performed in a tribute show at the Marine Theatre in Lyme Regis tonight.

The Carpenters Experience features an eight-piece live band of musicians from across the UK, led by the talented Maggie Nestor who recreates Karen Carpenter with respect and authenticity. Richard Carpenter is brought to life by Mick Mason, who founded the tribute act four years ago. He attributes the show's success to the popularity of the Carpenters' music and the group's extensive back catalogue of hit songs.

"Every track we play is a huge privilege for us," Mick says. "We are also very lucky to have a selection of the country's top talented musicians in the band."

The show is set to feature all of the group's greatest hits, from We've Only Just Begun and Yesterday Once More to Close to You and For All We Know.

The Carpenters were an American vocal and instrumental duo made up of siblings, Karen and Richard Carpenter. Their sound was a distinctive mix of pop and soft rock, and during their 14-year career the duo recorded 10 albums and achieved three number one singles.

Since their formation in the late 1960s, the Carpenters have sold more than 90 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling music artists of all time.

*The Carpenters Experience begins at 8pm. Tickets are £18.50 in advance, available from the Marine Theatre website or Bridport and Lyme Regis TICs, or £20.50 on the door.
