FRESH from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, local comedian Tom Glover brings his southwest tour to Bridport on Wednesday.

Bridport born comedian, Tom has been a familiar face on the local circuit for the best part of a decade but this will be the first time to see his award-nominated show, A Glover Not A Fighter, in Dorset.

Tom's show, which takes a wry look at his life growing up in the Westcountry with an alpha male father, was nominated for the best new show at the Leicester Comedy Festival and he has been touring it around the festival circuit visiting Shaftesbury, Reading, Manchester and more before taking it to Edinburgh in August.

He will be a familiar face to local comedy goers as he is a regular at Bridport’s Lyric Theatre and the host of the Lyme Regis Comedy Club at the Marine Theatre. Tom also hosted the Bridport Comedy Café for seven years at Bridport Arts Centre.

The southwest tour comes to Bridport’s Lyric Theatre on Wednesday, October 9 and the Marine Theatre in Lyme Regis on October 27.

Tom said: "I'm really excited to be doing my first solo show in the south west but particularly to bring it to my local gigs.

"I've hosted gigs here for years but that mainly involves me chatting with the audience rather than telling jokes. My regular crowds often ask when I'll be performing a set and until now I haven't. I've been working on this show for a year and it has gone down better than I ever expected at the festivals so I can't wait to do it here and hopefully people will like it. For people who see me regularly they would have likely seen parts of it in embryonic form, as I tested bits of it out at my local gigs, but this is the first time to see it all put together as a show. It's a fun feelgood show that has been going down with people of all ages. I had standing room only at some of my Edinburgh shows and I'd love to have busy rooms like that down here."

As well as performing his show, each night will also feature a hand picked support act and a bit of MCing from Tom at the start.
