GREAT progress is being made towards next year’s Dorchester Community Play and anyone intrigued by what it’s all about, or interested in getting involved, is invited to come along to a workshop on Sunday, October 6.

Taking place in Shire Hall, Dorchester between 2-4pm and led by assistant director Penny Levick, the event aims to highlight and teach some of the skills you could learn when taking part in a community production.

The play, Spinning the Moon, is set in West Dorset just after the Wars of the Roses and is the record-breaking seventh community play to be staged in Dorchester. A historical epic containing themes and moments of social unrest reminiscent of today’s global situation, it has been written by acclaimed playwright Stephanie Dale and will be directed by Peter Cann, who has worked with prestigious theatre companies in England and Europe.

Spinning the Moon is being performed by Dorchester Community Plays Association (charity No 1140952).

*A free public reading of the script for Spinning the Moon is taking place at Dorchester Library and Learning Centre on Saturday, October 19 from 7pm to 9pm. All are welcome to come along and find out how to get involved, hear music from the play and meet the team behind it.
