A DORSET seafood restaurant is in the running for two national awards.

The Crab House Café in Wyke Regis, Weymouth, has been nominated for Restaurant of the Year and Best Hospitality Team at the 2019 British Restaurant Awards.

The public will be able to vote on the awards, the results of which will be announced in a ceremony on June 5 in Holborn, London.

Nigel Bloxham, chef owner Crab House Café, said: “We’re very excited to be nominated for these awards at the prestigious British Restaurant Awards, especially alongside some big names in the culinary world.

“We’re very keen to get as many votes as possible and really draw attention to the fact that there are top restaurants outside of London offering outstanding quality and top service.

“We want to encourage all of our guests past and present to spend a minute and vote for us in both categories!”

The Crab House Café is a seafood restaurant that overlooks Chesil Beach and boasts its own oyster beds.

“A good size, caught along the the English Channel, that are then freshly boiled, chopped in half and then stir fried in garlic, chilli, ginger and herbs.

“The crabs are served on large wooden boards with a hammer, nut-crackers, various picks and forks and a bib.”

The restaurant previously won Best Seafood Restaurant at the Food Awards in October 2018.

Other nominees for awards include Gordon Ramsay, Jamie Oliver, Heston Blumenthal, Nathan Outlaw, and Andi Oliver.

The British Restaurant Awards is an awards ceremony celebrating restaurants, chefs and the culinary service in the UK.

This years marks the third annual British Restaurant Awards, which is being sponsored by Zuricom Money.

Customers and the public at large can nominate and vote for their favourites.
