TOP chef Mark Hix will talk about his love of angling and food in conversation with TV presenter Mariella Frostrup.

The fundraiser for the Marine Theatre in Lyme Regis coincides with the launch of Mark Hix's new book Hooked: Adventures in Angling and Eating.

This year sees the Marine celebrate 125 years, Mark Hix has been a patron for the Marine since 2018, and this year the theatre is the charity of choice for his Lyme Regis restaurant.

Just before his book's official release, Mark will be signing copies at this special fundraiser for the arts venue. The celebratory chef will be in conversation with Mariella Frostrup, the well-known media personality who presents Open Book, BBC Radio 4’s flagship literary programme.

The pair will delve into the anecdotes and recipes of the locally-born chef, including the story of his first catch being cooked by his grandmother—the catalyst for his passion for cooking.

Mark Hix said: 'I’m looking forward to sharing tales from my book before its release with the local community - it promises to be a very special event. As patron, I'm so delighted to welcome Mariella to the Marine as part of its 125 anniversary year fundraising.'

Ticket holders will be regaled with tales of extraordinary fishing expeditions at home and afar, from the banks of the Dumfriesshire coast to New Zealand’s Milford Sound.

Each trip of Mark’s from the book ended in a feast – be it the catch of the day (if all went to plan), or something found and foraged (always have a back-up plan). Weaved into the narrative are the infectious, and unexpected, joys of fishing and what it does for you.
