From flying cars to wonderful window displays, we've got a lot to amaze and astound you with this weekend.

*VIEW a magical lantern parade on Portland tonight.

It is being held as part of the Window Wanderland event and begins at 6.30pm from the Aqua Hotel in Castletown and continues until 9.30pm.

Last year over 70 homes took part in this unique community event that saw all kinds of visual delights - from a decorated phone box full of underwater creatures to a teddy bear disco created to brighten the winter night.

*JOIN Weymouth Lifeboat volunteers with a special party at Weymouth Lifeboat Station tonight (22) from 8pm at the Ocean Room in Weymouth Pavilion.

The party is to celebrate the station's 150th anniversary.

The event will take the form of a party with a bar and dancing to the hugely popular nine piece band Soulside from Wiltshire, whose repertoire includes music from the '60s, '70s and '80s.

There will be a presentation to the station of an inscribed Vellum by the RNLI Chairman to celebrate the anniversary and the guest of honour will be Dorset's Deputy Lord Lieutenant Admiral Sir George Zambellas. This will be a ticketed event, with tickets available from Weymouth Pavilion box office.

*SEE a shamelessly hi-octane spoof at Martinstown Village Hall on Saturday (23) at 7.30pm.

Last Chance Saloon will perform a comic double-bill in conjunction with Artsreach.

First, join Sherlock Holmes and his trusty sidekick as they travel from 221B Baker Street through Victorian London (and Waitrose) to a mysterious farm, hot in pursuit of an evil mastermind, in Sherlock Holmes & The Curse of the Blue Carbuncle. Then, join unwitting hero Montana Jones on a quest for archaeological eminence in The Curse of the Mummy. Call 01305 889738 for tickets.

*A COMBINATION of your favourite rock and pop artists from across the era can be enjoyed with Rock for Heroes at Weymouth Pavilion tomorrow at 7.30pm. (23)

The show will be fundraising in support of Help for Heroes. There will be music from artists such as Queen, Dire Straits, David Bowie, Status Quo, Bryan Adams, Elton John, AC/DC, Whitesnake and many more. Call the box office for tickets.

*CLARE Teal and her Trio will play Dorchester Corn Exchange tomorrow.

Jazz vocalist and BBC Radio 2 presenter Clare and her Trip will feature the very best of popular music from the golden age of song in this upbeat and uplifting new show. Contact Dorchester Arts for tickets.

*IZZY wizzy, get busy with the Sooty Show at Weymouth Pavilion for two performances at 11am and 2.30pm.

Direct from their hit ITV series, Sooty, Sweep and Soo and TV’s Richard Cadell will amaze the audience with impossible tricks and sidesplitting jokes! Be astounded at Sooty's flying car, Soo’s singing unicorn and Sweep’s levitating sausage!

Special guests will include circus star Michael Jordan and the ultraviolet specialties of Fantasie de la Nuit.

*SONGWRITER Nick Cope is giving a performance for families at Dorchester Corn Exchange on Sunday, March 24 at 2.30pm.

Nick's family performances are legendary: with songs about head lice, dogs eating soap and dragons called Keith! Contact Dorchester Arts for tickets.
