GYPSY-FLAVOURED music and entertainment can be heard in rural Dorset.

The Budapest Cafe Orchestra will tour the county for five dates in April, calling in at Burton Bradstock and Charlton Down.

The Budapest Café Orchestra first established itself as a Dorset favourite way back in the mid-1990’s when rural-touring for local arts organisation Artsreach.

Over the years since, BCO has performed in just about every village, parish and town across Dorset to great acclaim. Now Budapest Café Orchestra are back to tantalise, dazzle and enthral with their unique blend of folk and gypsy-flavoured music and entertainment in their 10th anniversary year of the present incarnation of the band.

The band's members are Christian Garrick on violin, Eddie Hession on accordion, Kelly Cantlon on double bass and Adrian Zolotuhin on guitar, saz, balalaika and domra.

The BCO was established by British composer and violinist, Christian and led by him they play a blistering barrage of traditional folk and gypsy-flavoured music from across the Balkans and Russia, Klezmer laments, Romanian Doinas, Hungarian Czardas and their own unique re-imaginings of some of the biggest pieces ever written by the greats.

A small but impeccably formed orchestra of just four players, the BCO combines violin, guitar, accordion, double bass, saz & balalaika creating an aural alchemy normally only characteristic of far bigger ensembles.

The Budapest Cafe Orchestra will play Wootton Fitzpaine Village Hall on Tuesday, April 23, Powerstock Hut on Wednesday, April 24, Burton Bradstock Village Hall on Thursday, April 25, Evershot Village Hall on Friday, April 26 and Charlton Down Herrison Hall on Saturday, April 27. Performances start at 7.30pm.
