CHARLES Dickens is coming to town, and he’s bringing the whole family!

Dorchester Drama are working on their spring production, A Moment with Dickens - promising an entertaining evening for Dickens aficionados’ and newcomers alike.

A Moment with Dickens will combine delightful vignettes of many of Dickens' much-loved stories and characters in Dickens' Children by Nick Warburton and will shine a light on Charles Dickens and the character of the man himself in Dickens' Life and Hopes by Dee Thorne.

Director Dee Thorne is delighted with the progress of rehearsals, watching all the elements of her production coming together in the hands of her creative cast.

Each actor plays multiple roles, changing age, status, and even gender throughout the play, and just in case the role swapping and line learning is not enough to keep the cast busy, there’s choreography too.

Dee has brought her not inconsiderable dance experience to play with 'movement sequences' that illustrate life in Dickens England.

The set has been designed, posters are going to print, and characterful props are being made.
