A FAMILIAR face from the television will be providing the laughs on Portland tomorrow night.

Craig Murray, who plays Joe in the Plusnet adverts, is headlining the Royal Manor Theatre's comedy night on Friday, March 8.

This stellar night of comedy will also feature Ruth Cockburn, famous for her story telling and musical numbers, as well as Paul Pirie, who is renowned for his improv and his manic performances, rather like a cross between Jack Whitehall and the energizer bunny.

All three are regulars on the south west circuit and have been featured on TV, with Craig being immediately recognisable from the adverts and Ruth being on Sky TVs stand up show, while Paul is a regular at the Edinburgh Fringe and a frequent extra in a variety of straight roles for BBC Scotland.

Theatre spokesman Neil Highley said the night comes following the success of the theatre's last comedy evening, which Tanyalee Davis headlined.

He said: "At the last event, Portland showed Tanya and co. that they gave as good as they got and Craig and pals are sure to get the same degree of attention this time round. It's great to see the area jumping again with live comedy up the hill at the weekend."
