A NEW adaptation of Henry James’ disturbing novella Turn of the Screw is Bridport-bound.

It comes from the award-winning Box Tale Soup and features puppetry and a haunting original soundtrack.

The show sold out at the Edinburgh Fringe 2018.

The play tells the story of a governess charged with looking after two small children, in the isolated country estate of Bly House. She is charmed at first by her surroundings, until sinister figures appear, with the intent of corrupting the children as the governess battles to save them.

A two-hander, the show is performed by Antonia Christophers as the governess, and Noel Byrne – who portrays the silent manifestations, voices the puppet characters, and performs the majority of the puppetry itself. Emma Foulsham of Bridport Arts Centre said: “We’re looking forward to this new presentation of a classic horror story. I’ve heard good things about Box Tale Soup and their incredible puppetry. Join us for a visual treat that will thrill fans of the macabre.”
