HOT Fingers presents an eclectic mix of tunes from the 1920s, 30s and 40s with their new show The Banned Played On which is touring rural Dorset courtesy of Artsreach.

Led by frontman Tom ‘Spats’ Langham who has performed with The Pasadena Roof Orchestra, The Temperance Seven and Acker Bilk, and accompanied by sousaphone player Malcolm Sked who has toured with Bob Kerr’s Whoopee Band and The Charleston Chasers.

Together with stunning vocalist Emily Campbell and multi-instrumentalist Danny Blyth, the band regularly fill jazz clubs, halls and theatres up and down the country.

Now back on the road courtesy of touring arts charity Artsreach, Hot Fingers present a mix of tunes which were deemed unsuitable for the public by the various authorities and governments of the time.

Whether the censorship was due to political or social reasons or, just plain bad taste, Hot Fingers share all the stories; from Bing Crosby and Ella Fitzgerald, to Fats Waller and George Formby, all will be played in the inimitable Hot Fingers styles of hot jazz, low down blues and popular song.

A tour spokesman said: “Featuring guitar, double bass, sousaphone, banjo, mandolin, ukulele, clarinet and tuba, combined with the sublime vocals of Emily Campbell, expect an outstanding evening of entertainment.”
