EDUARDO Niebla, formidable flamenco jazz virtuoso, comes to Dorchester on Friday.

The Eduardo Niebla Experience can be seen at Dorchester Corn Exchange.

Eduardo, also a composer, has been trailblazing his exhilarating flamenco jazz fusion for more than 40 years.

Continually seeking out new musical terrain, he has collaborated with such diverse partners as George Michael, Craig David, sitar maestro Nishat Khan, Lol Coxhill (sax) and the Dante String Quartet. In this show, Niebla presents an amazing repertoire from his latest albums brilliantly accompanied by guitarist Matthew Robinson and table player Dharmesh Parmar.

Eduardo said: “I always try to find those deep places in my music, and notes that you never thought were there… for me the power of music to connect us all is a wonderful thing and a real possibility.”

The programme is a snapshot Eduardo’s international life; a passionate journey from his early years in Morocco, to his impoverished roots in Spain and his discovery of jazz and the freedom of improvisation. Pieces such as Calle de la Tina vividly evoke the life of Granada, Rosie the influence of Arabic culture, My Gypsy Waltz his dedication to gypsies, whilst the Django Reinhardt inspired I Can Fly Now says it all.
