WRITERS have the opportunity to share their work with Weymouth Library's writer-in-residence Sarah Acton.

People can book one on one mentoring sessions with Sarah on the following dates: January 7,15, 22, 31; February 5, 12, 21, 26 and March 5.

The Weymouth-on-Sea writer-in-residence programme with Sarah celebrates the town’s day to day physical and emotional connection to the sea.

During the residency, Sarah will help and encourage people of all ages to explore their own relationship with the sea, tides and coastline through poetry, story and words. She will invite memories, and use reflections and ideas collected through events and workshops to create a display in the library. This unique collage-style poem of many voices and words will represent a snap-shot of how people in Weymouth value the sea for work, play and leisure. The collage and Sarah’s poetry piece will be exhibited in late March.

The residency will also include a regular reading cafe to bring and share favourite books and poems. Sarah will be based in the library 'writer's corner' , an interactive area, where members of the public can visit from early January to the end of March. Be inspired by writing tips, book recommendations and materials and help share thoughts and memories of what Weymouth-on-Sea means to you. Visitors are encouraged to leave behind a poem on a postcard or even a letter.
