NEW YEAR, new acts as Dorchester Arts looks ahead to 2019 by announcing the lineup of entertainment to be showcased from January.

The Spring season will include a busy programme featuring plenty of music, theatre and comedy at the Dorchester Corn Exchange.

Dorchester Youth Theatre are participating in Connections once again, the youth theatre festival that saw them perform on the stage of the National Theatre in 2014.

Pop Club continues to thrive, but always needs funding to make it accessible to all, so is hosting a fundraising birthday bash on 29 March.

The biggest opportunity of all for youth participation comes in the form of the musical celebration 'Apollo: One Giant Leap'. Six months of art, music and science workshops involving more than 2000 children will culminate in a weekend celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing.

Elizabeth Evensen, marketing manager for Dorchester Arts, said: "Dorchester Arts grew out of the desire to give young people an opportunity to participate in the arts and we're set to continue with that mission in 2019.

"We would like to thank all those who have donated money so far or given their time to getting the project off the ground, and throughout the spring we will be putting out the call for sponsors and volunteers to help us make Apollo and Moonbury Rings an event that young people will remember for the rest of their lives. "

As well as all of this, they have a jam packed programme of shows covering everything from Flamenco-Jazz in January with Eduardo Niebla through to the revered Nash Ensemble in April.

In between there is plenty of comedy, theatre and more music including well-known names Steve Knightley, Hal Cruttenden, The Unraveling Wilburys, Mike Denham, Clare Teal and Hazel O'Connor mixed together with household names of the future like Angela Barnes, Edglarks, Rhodri Miles, The Noise Next Door and Jo Harrop singing Peggy Lee.

Tickets are available from the Dorchester Arts box office on 01305 266926, in person at the Corn Exchange (weekdays 10am - 4pm) or via www.dorchesterarts.org.uk. Members of Livefor£5 aged 14 – 25 can buy tickets for selected show for only £5 (see Dorchester Arts website for details).
